What is FRP pultruded profile?

The basic components of pultruded FRP profile are resin and glass fiber (including cloth, felt, etc.). It is reinforced by fiber (including glass fiber, carbon fiber, organic fiber and other metal and nonmetal fibers) and resin (mainly epoxy resin). Polyester resin, phenolic resin) is compounded with other auxiliary materials (main auxiliary materials: mold release agent, curing agent, catalyst, mold sealing agent, UV light stabilizer, mold cleaning water, gel coat, etc.). It has a series of excellent characteristics such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, high strength, low specific gravity, low moisture absorption, small elongation and good insulation. Application of pultruded profiles;

High-voltage cable tray, insulating support member, antenna column, high-voltage power supply operating rod, generator radiator, stairs and handrails, operating platform, aisle, oil storage tank, distribution board and distribution room, drainage system, berth and seabed identification signs, working struts in trains and automobiles, corner boards, highway guardrails, sound-absorbing boards, filler supports in towers, filter plate supports, and frame materials for cold storage.

Characteristics and performance

1. Good dimensional stability

Thermosetting resin matrix is cross-linked by heat during processing to form a body-shaped network structure, and its products have good dimensional stability under normal conditions, and the post-shrinkage after molding is also small. Under long-term continuous load, the shape and size of the product change very little, that is, the creep property is small. Its creep performance depends on the load, temperature and loading time. Under the condition of fixed load and temperature, the creep of thermosetting plastics after long-term loading is much smaller than that of thermoplastic plastics. After long-term loading, the creep of thermosetting plastics is much smaller than that of thermoplastic plastics.

2. Excellent heat resistance and high temperature resistance

After curing, thermosetting resin-based composites can no longer soften, and the heat resistance of its products is quite stable. Generally, its thermal deformation temperature is within 150 ~ 260℃ when measured by a load of 1.86MPa. Fiber-reinforced thermosetting plastics are excellent thermal insulation materials, and their thermal conductivity is generally 0.35 ~ 0.47 W/(m.k), which is only 1/100 to 1/1000 of that of metal, so they can be used as good insulation materials. Glass fiber/phenolic resin is an excellent thermal insulation material for rocket and missile engines.

3. Excellent electrical performance

Composite material is an excellent electrical insulation material. If mica is used as filler, the electrical properties of products are even better, and it can be used to manufacture special parts with excellent arc resistance, voltage resistance and induced electricity. Because the composite material has excellent electrical properties, its products are free from electrochemical corrosion and stray current corrosion, and can be widely used to manufacture insulation parts in instruments, motors and electrical appliances, so as to improve the reliability of electrical appliances and prolong their service life. In addition, the products have good dielectric properties and microwave transmittance under the action of high frequency, and have been used to manufacture a variety of high-frequency insulation products such as radomes.

4. Excellent corrosion resistance

The electrochemical corrosion mechanism of resin-based composites is different from that of ordinary steel. It is non-conductive and does not dissolve ions in dielectric solution, so it has good chemical stability to atmosphere, water, general concentration of acid, alkali, salt and other media, especially in non-oxidizing strong acid and media with a wide ph range. Therefore, at present, it is widely used to manufacture corrosion-resistant products, which can be used for the corrosion of some media (such as hydrochloric acid, chlorine, carbon dioxide, dilute sulfuric acid, sodium hypochlorite and sulfur dioxide, etc.) that stainless steel can't cope with, and has played a good role.

5. Good surface characteristics of FRP pultruded profiles

When the composite material is in contact with chemical media, there is seldom corrosion and scaling on the surface. Therefore, it is often used to manufacture fluid pipelines, which have low internal resistance and friction coefficient, thus saving a lot of power. Because composite materials are generally not as easy to generate metal ions to pollute media as metals, this is why composite materials are widely used in food and hospital industries. In addition, the composite material has a high friction (pv) limit value, and its friction coefficient is very small, about 0.01 ~ 0.03, under the condition of water lubrication, so it is also the preferred material for wear-resistant products.

The above-mentioned superior characteristics of pultruded composites are mostly used in mechanical structural parts, insulation parts, high-frequency stress parts and other functional structural parts.
